gazing up at the wonder of Ogier stone work that has stood since 198 AB, it
is easy to feel humbled by the immense power emanating from the Aes Sedai.
Women who take on rulers of nations, fight the most vile of shadowspawn, or
dig up treasures of the Age of Legends walk these halls in Tar Valon, and
form the strongest faction of the Light that exists today. Now imagine
being a young lady, discovering you are blessed with the ability to draw on
saidar and then gazing into the distant future and realizing that with hard
work, dedication and concentration you too could become one of these great
women. You have within you a spark that could change the course of
history or simply save the life of a dying man, so you walk up the
steps of the White Tower, don your white dress and hope against hope
that one day your will attain your goals.
Within the shining walls you find more than you've ever imagined; not

the best bladesmen, the bravest and most courageous of whom are
Warders, bonded to Aes Sedai. The White Tower becomes your home, you
find yourself fitting in among these awe inspiring people, so you work
and you sweat, and pace by pace your destiny becomes more of a
reality. Think of that, think of who you are and who you cannot even
